5-week ceramics course for beginners

Do you dream of working with clay or trying your hand at the potter's wheel?

In this 5-week course, you will learn the most important basic techniques of ceramics in a calm, cozy, and creative environment. The course is designed for those who have never worked with clay before but want to learn the craft from scratch.

You will be introduced to both hand-building and wheel-throwing, while also learning how clay behaves throughout the entire process from the first lump of clay to the finished, glazed piece.

We work in small groups with a maximum of 8 participants, allowing ample time for individual guidance, sparring, and space to develop your own creative expression. And of course, there's also time for a good cup of barista coffee or tea along the way.

Team A: 5 Thursdays from 17:00 - 20:00
Dates: 3/9, 10/9, 24/9, 1/10, 8/10

Team B: 5 Thursdays from 17:00 - 20:00
Dates: 22/10, 29/10, 5/11, 12/11, 19/11

Duration per session: 3 hours

Group size: Max. 8 participants

Level: Beginners – no experience necessary

Age: Adults and young people from approx. 12 years

What you will learn

Over the five weeks, you will work with:

Introduction to clay, tools, and materials

Hand-building with pinch pot, coil technique, and slab technique

Basic wheel-throwing on a potter's wheel

Decoration with textures, stamps, and molds

Assembly, finishing, and preparation for firing

Glazing with dipping glazes, brush glazes, and over 100 underglazes

The ceramic workflow from wet clay to finished piece

You will gain technical knowledge and plenty of time to experiment, ask questions, and create works that are entirely your own.

We combine hand-building and wheel-throwing because the two techniques complement each other. When you get to know clay through hand-building, it becomes easier to understand and work with on the potter's wheel.

Clay

Clay is charged based on consumption, so you only pay for what you use.

500 g: DKK 45

1 kg: DKK 90

Price includes glazing and all firings.

Missed course sessions generally cannot be replaced.

The course will run with a minimum of 3 participants.
